Theater
Classroom
Rules:
No excuses.
Respect
everyone all the time.
Respect the
content of the class.
Come to my
class prepared (Lines memorized according to due dates, costumes in order,
etc.)
Cross the
threshold before the bell rings.
MOST
IMPORTANTLY: It is my right to do my job. It is your (and your peers’) right to
learn. Therefore, anything that might keep these from happening is punishable.
*If you do
not follow the rules, you will lose points on your daily grade.
Classroom
Management:
Mature behavior is expected at all times. Disrespect of any
kind will not be tolerated. Any discipline problems will be handled by one or
more of the following:
1st offense: verbal warning
2nd offense: teacher/student conference
3rd offense: referral to Mrs.Crump
**I reserve the right to skip steps if the inappropriate
action warrants such punishment.
Practices,
Rehearsals and Final Production:
You are to attend EVERY practice and rehearsal that is
scheduled on the calendar. You have earned your place in theater, and it is
your responsibility to be a team player. Your absence affects the entire
production, whether you are the lead role or a tech.
Unless
you have received prior permission to be absent, I and your classmates expect
you there. If you fail to attend, you will face consequences, possibly
forfeiting your role or position.
CLEAN UP:
I REFUSE to clean up after you after a practice or production. It is your
responsibility to clean the area in which you used. In the past, I have spent
hours making sure the theater is presentable. It is disrespectful to me and the
school for you to not clean up. This
will take you 5 minutes as opposed to hours for one person. Again, there will
be consequences to your actions in this matter.
The CULTURE of this CLASS: As
a theater director, I am very open to your ideas. At times, I may ask for your
input. I may even ask you to direct a certain portion of the play or write
lines. I LOVE your ideas.! However, I make the final call. I will always
respect your opinion; therefore, respect my position as a director. When I ask, be open to share. However, I
will not tolerate disrespect toward me or another classmate; therefore, do not
speak out of turn, raise or your voice or talk over another person. When your
opinion is wanted, I will ask for it. Know that I will do what’s BEST for you
and the class. Trust my decision.
FINALLY:
I am very proud of this group! Each production has been executed so well. I
know what you are capable of. I have high expectations. If you are not willing
to attend practice, sometimes until late in the evenings or Saturday’s, please
reconsider. The end-product is always worth it, and we always have FUN! (I
promise!)
I
love this quote: “You cannot rush greatness!” Keep that in mind as we work on
this semester’s productions.
